About Me

I am American born, but brought up in England from the age of seven, with an English, Jewish father and a mother who is both African American and Native American Indian.

I am a practising fine artist with a BA Hons. degree in painting and a commendation in sculpture from Camberwell College of Art, London, England.

My family have produced many artists, among them the Russian Constructivist – Naum Gabo and his wife, (my grandmother) Miriam Israels who was also a painter and niece of the Dutch born painter Jozef Israels.

This background and experience in fine art lent itself well to the world of jewellery, when in 2002 I bought my own jewellery shop and learnt all about the jewellery design business to become a jewellery designer.

One of the things that struck me about my customers was their real satisfaction in someone taking the time to explore their ideas about design.

I discovered that I enjoyed helping them pursue their, often unusual ideas, and advising them on the best way to design their custom jewellery. Very often this experience became a collaboration where the client and I designed a unique piece of jewellery together, often incorporating personal qualities and ideas from their own families or backgrounds.

Payment

I give quotes after my initial meeting with the client, when I have researched the work with my jewellery designers, stone setters or repairers.

If I’ve asked how much you can afford to spend, the materials I suggest in my quote will be tailored to suit your budget.

I operate a gradual payment scheme where, after the first deposit of one third of the total price, two more payments may be made on a monthly basis. I find this suits a lot of customers who are paid monthly.
